New Black Holocaust Museum site Groundbreaking
[Milwaukee Journal Sentinel]

Rendering of the Griot, with the new site of the ABHM to be located on the ground floor.

On Tuesday, April 4th, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the site at the corner of N. 4th Street and W. North Avenue to construct The Griot, a new building that will include 41 apartments and commercial space — as well as house the new home of America's Black Holocaust Museum (ABHM). The project is being led by Maures Development LLC and J. Jeffers & Co, both of which are based in Milwaukee, and is in conjunction with the transformation of the adjacent site, where the former Garfield Avenue Elementary School will be converted into housing and community spaces.
